Meet Jen Barnett: Peak Perfection's Wellness Director

We're changing up the way we build trips in the Rockies, and it starts with one person.

Jen Barnett joined the Peak Perfection team earlier this season as our Wellness Director, and if you've ever wrapped up a big day in the mountains feeling more wrecked than restored, then you understand exactly why we need her around.

Jen's been a Registered Massage Therapist for over 12 years now, as well as a yoga teacher. Along the way she's built up real know-how in lymphatic health, yoga and yoga nidra, meditation, and sound bathing - all just fancy ways of saying she understands how the body moves and how it bounces back. You don't run into that combo very often, and it's exactly what our guests have been missing.

Originally from London, Ontario, Jen made her way out to the Rockies and never really left - in fact, she's called the Bow Valley home for nearly 10 years now. Jen got her start working at the world renowned Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Spa. Today, Jen owns and runs her own practice, Jen Barnett RMT (jenbarnettrmt.com) out of Canmore, so she's not just talking theory, she's been treating people in these mountains for a long time.

Here's the thing about the Rockies. The scenery does a lot of the heavy lifting, but the pace of a day can wear folks down without them even noticing. Guests want to see Moraine Lake, get up a ridge, stand somewhere that makes them go quiet for a second. But they also want to feel good doing it, and feel good after. That's where Jen comes in. Her job is to build that second part right into the trip, not tack it on as an afterthough at the end.

How that looks depends on the person - whether it be a guided meditation before an early start, a Yoga Nidra session to reset after a long drive between stops, or a sound bath at the end of a multi-day trip to help everything settle. Sometimes it's simpler than that, just knowing how to pace a day so folks leave grounded instead of running on empty.

Jen's approach is holistic. Exploration and restoration aren't opposites out here, they're two sides of the same coin. She helps guests connect with the landscape as more than just a backdrop, so they leave feeling like the mountains actually did something for them, not just to them.

We think this changes what a private Rockies trip can be. Instead of building a checklist of lookouts, we aim to leave you a little better than we found you.

So if you're planning a trip and want wellness built into the itinerary from the get-go, drop us a line at info@peakperfection.ca. We'll build the route, and now, thanks to Jen, we'll build the recovery too.
